Hurling News - 2007 Senior Hurling League Final

Last weekend also saw the final of the senior hurling league where Clontibret came with an increasingly dominant performance in the second-half to edge past Monaghan Harps by the minimum margin in a very entertaining game in Pearse Park, Ballybay.

A feature of the game was the striking of Monaghan Harps player Pat O’Connell who scored 10 points of his team’s total and in the process struck some magnificent scores, one effort in particular from all of 80 metres to cap a brilliant individual display. However on the day it was not enough and Clontibret held out in a hectic finish, a goal by Noel Morgan about midway through the second-half setting up a great revival.

There is only one further competition in hurling now to complete the entire fixtures programme and that is the final of the reserve hurling league which will be pencilled in at a later date.
