Clontibret Captain Furious
Clontibret team captain, Dessie Mone was furious at the referee’s failure to inform Paul McGuigan that the late ’45’ was effectively the last kick of the game.
A unwarranted fracas erupted and it is believed that Cathal Shortt (Crossmaglen Rangers) and Eoin Greenan (Clontibret) received red cards following the final whistle from referee, Martin Sludden.
The Monaghan champions may have felt aggrieved but there can be no suggestion that the Tyrone referee treated them unjustly. He played six minutes of extra-time when only four minutes were signalled.
No doubt, we will hear more about the after-match fracas in the coming week when the Ulster Council have dealt with the matter.
