Dinner Dance
We had a very successful and enjoyable Dinner Dance and Presentation night last Saturday in the Glencarn. This was the first year that football, hurling, ladies football and camogie medals were all presented at the one function. Guest of honour on the night was Joe Brolly who gave a very witty and entertaining speech which set the tone for the night, while Monaghan County Board was represented by Chairman John Connolly and his wife Celine.
Medals presented on the night included Senior Football Championship, Reserve B Championship, Reserve C League and Championship, Senior Hurling League, Reserve Hurling League, Ladies Intermediate Football Championship, Ladies Minor Football League & Senior Camogie Championship.
Special presentations were made to the successful managers, including Senior football managers Damien Moen, Mick O’Dowd and Brendan Murphy. Retiring club officers, Brendan Magennis and Sean Mulligan were also the recipients of presentations to mark their service to the club, which in Brendan’s case stretched back to 1975 when he was appointed club treasurer. The Senior Player of the Year award for 2007 was presented by Joe Brolly to Conor McManus.
During the course of the evening, the gathering was entertained by video clips and a slide show which highlighted various aspects of a very successful year in football, hurling and camogie. After the meal the music was provided by the Hughes Brothers who entertained the large attendance into the small hours.
Many thanks to all who helped make the night such a success; to Patrick Mc Fadden and his staff, to Kieran Lavelle who organised the slide show, to all who helped set up the vast array of trophies and medals and in particular to all who helped win them. A special thanks to Chairman Colm and Secretary Frank who kept the show running smoothly on the night.
Dinner Dance Money
All Dinner Dance money will be collected this evening, Thursday in the clubrooms at 9.30pm. Please get all money handed in.
Social Club Committee
A Social Club Committee meeting will take place in the clubrooms next Tuesday, 5th February at 9.30pm.
