O'Neill Shamrocks Club Notes

A.G.M.
A very successful A.G.M. was held in Clontibret clubrooms on Sunday last, 24th February, with quite a good attendance. The chairman, secretary and treasurer gave detailed accounts of the year’s activities. A number of issues were discussed including fundraising, child protection and collecting registration money. It was decided to hold a Flag Day to raise vital funds for the club. A weekend is to be chosen on which to hold this and both players and parents will be expected to help out. It was also proposed that the younger members of the club hold a sponsored Stay Awake, and Amy Moen agreed to help organise this. The issue of child protection came up and the new Children’s Officers, Kathy and Donna agreed to draw up a policy on this for the club. The amount of registration money not paid by a number of players was also addressed, as this is costing the club a considerable amount of money. To help alleviate this problem it was decided to hold a Registration Evening where parents and players will be invited to come along. There were a small number of changes to the executive with Chairman, Harry Leonard stepping down who was replaced by Michael McGinn. The following is the list of officers and team managers for the coming year:

Registration Evening
A Registration Evening will take place in Clontibret clubrooms tomorrow evening, Friday, 7th March at 7pm. This will be a short meeting that will involve paying the registration fee and also gives parents an opportunity to ask any questions they may have. It is important to encourage as many new players as possible to come along and join us for the coming year, especially u12s. Registration for the coming year is as follows: Senior €40, Juvenile €30, Officials €25.

Flag Day
We are holding a Flag Day on Friday, 28th March and Saturday, 29th March in both Monaghan and ‘Blayney towns. A rota will be drawn up nearer the time to cover both towns. It is hoped that this important fund raising event will be well supported by both the players and parents.

Senior Team
Training as usual tomorrow evening, Friday at 8pm. It is important to get a full turn out at training as the attendance has been low so far. A challenge match has been fixed for this Saturday, 8th March in Clontibret at 4pm against a team from Cavan. Again a full attendance is vital.
