Clontibret Club Notes
Senior League Clontibret 0-06, Latton 1-14. A very understrength outfit were well beaten in Latton on Sunday morning last. A good start by the home side left an uphill battle for the second half, and despite our best efforts and some good individual performances, the margin was not significantly reduced in the second half. The next senior game is the championship. Senior Championship Our first outing in the defence of our championship title takes place on Sunday, 1st June in Blayney at 6.30pm. We take on parish rivals Doohamlet. Reserve League Division 1 Clontibret 1-08, Latton 0-03. A comprehensive win over Latton on Wednesday night last to give us a semi-final place. The final match against Magheracloone on Tuesday night last, was only to decide placings. Reserve League Division 3 Clontibret 0-13, Corduff 0-06. The Div.3 side gave a much improved performance to get back into winning ways against Corduff in Clontibret on Sunday evening last. A feature of the game was the return to competitive football of Gregory Leonard, who scored 5 points, while a rejuvenated Brian Morgan scored 3 points from play. Minor League Clontibret 3-14, Carrick 5-09. Our minors lost out by the narrowest of margins against Carrick last week after a high scoring and entertaining game. There are no more matches until after the exams. Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Good luck to Padraig Boyle who represents the club on the Monaghan county minor team on Sunday against Fermanagh. U16 League Clontibret 3-09, Blayney 2-06. Our u16s had an excellent win over Blayney last Thursday. Please note that the u16 championship semi-final is fixed for Friday, 27th June against Magheracloone. U14 Clontibret 2-11, Harps 6-07. Although we ended up losing, this was our best performance of the year to date. The boys played out of their skins and were unlucky to concede so many goals. Next match is on Saturday, 31st May against Latton. U12 Clontibret 4-16, Killanny 1-04. Despite playing against a much stronger and more physical Killanny team, the boys came away with an excellent, high scoring victory. The team kept going to the very end and their efforts paid off. We play Clones on Saturday in Clones at 4pm. Meet at the Community Centre at 2.45pm. U10 Blitz A very successful and enjoyable day was had at the u10 blitz last Saturday. Well done to all the boys who took part, to the managers who went on the day, and to the County Coaching Committee who organised it. Monaghan v Fermanagh Good luck to the boys in Brewster Park on Sunday, especially John Paul, Dessie, Paul, Vinnie, Martin and Conor. Tickets for the game will be distributed in the clubrooms tonight, Thursday, at 9.30pm. Summer Camps The GAA Cul Camp will run in Clontibret from the 7th to 11th July from 10am to 2.30pm daily, and will include a Nursery Camp for 5 & 6 year olds.
