Clontibret Club Notes
Senior Championship Clontibret 1-15, Doohamlet 0-09. After taking the first half to settle into the game, we got into our rhythm in the second half and ran out winners in this opening championship first round tie. A good second half performance formed the basis for the victory. Senior League We played Doohamlet again yesterday evening in the league. Next match is on Sunday away to ‘Blayney at 12.30pm. Reserve League Division 1 Reserve League semi-final on Wednesday, June, 11th against Magheracloone in Clontibret. Reserve League Division 3 Clontibret 1-11, Emyvale 1-11. A good all round performance saw us secure a draw with Emyvale, however we narrowly missed out on a semi-final place. Next game for this team will be the championship away to Aghabog. Minors Minor training continues Tuesdays and Thursdays. U16 League Training continues Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. U14 League Clontibret 3-11 Latton 2-6 Clontibret U14s picked up another 2 pts at home to Latton in round 6 of the league, which leaves them with 7 points out of a possible 12 so far. The game was played in very warm conditions but both teams contributed to a very entertaining and sporting encounter. The first 15 minutes were evenly balanced with both teams swapping scores. Brian Greenan picked off the first two points of the game. Latton responded with a goal and two points before Conor Lavelle broke through for a well taken goal from close range. Brian Greenan and Liam Savage began to dominate the midfield and supply the forwards where Conor Lavelle added two more points with good support play from Michael Paul O Dowd, Aodh Curran and Killian MC Donald. Latton added two more points but Clontibret finished the half with two points from Lavelle and Greenan before Aodh Curran added a second goal to leave the halftime score 2-6 to 1-4.
Clontibret began the second half strongly with their defence holding tight where Gareth Brennan had his best game of the year and he was ably assisted by Raymond McNally and Conor Carragher. Darren Mc Donald continued to be very steady in goals where his catching and kick outs were excellent. The fullback line of Sean Smith, Daire McKeown and Caolán Murphy limited Latton to a goal and 2 points in the second half.
Up front Conor Lavelle continued strongly with Aodh Curran adding a third goal and 2 further points by Daire McKeown, M O Dowd. Paul Murphy and Martin Mone worked hard as did Shane Mooney and Colin Todd when introduced.
