Clontibret Club Notes
Reserve League Div.1 Semi-Final Clontibret 1-11, Magheracloone 2-05 A great team performance saw off the challenge of Magheracloone on Wednesday evening. We conceded goals at crucial times, one in the closing stages of the game, but fought back with points from Colm Greenan, Mark Rooney and Marius McGarrell to win by 3 points. It was great to see eight different players getting on the score sheet. The final against Scotstown, will be played tomorrow evening, Friday, in Rooskey at 8pm. Senior League Clontibret 0-18, Carrick 1-09. Our senior team had a very good win against Carrick on Friday evening last. We got off to a bad start with Carrick scoring a goal almost from the throw in. However, we clawed back the three points quickly, two from frees, and a fisted point from play from Ronan Murphy, and we didn’t go behind again for the rest of the game. After going in level at half-time the second half turned into a point scoring blitz with some excellent scores from a number of different players. Next senior league game is against Magheracloone next Wednesday, 25th June at 8pm in Magheracloone. O’Duffy Cup Clontibret 2-17, Ballybay 0-01 We had a comfortable win over Ballybay in this championship outing on Sunday last. We took a while to get going but pulled away easily to win against a struggling Ballybay team. Crawley Cup The first round of the Crawley Cup championship is fixed for Wednesday, 16th July away to Aghabog. U14 The u14 semi-final v Emyvale, due to be played this Saturday, is rescheduled due to the hurling feile this weekend. Players will be notified when fixed. U12 Clontibret 4-11, Cremartin 3-05. On Tuesday we played our neighbours Cremartin in a very lively and keenly contested game. There was great commitment and passion shown from start to finish. Both teams displayed excellent levels of skill and took some excellent scores in a high scoring contest. Particular praise is due to the defenders for their quick thinking free-taking and tigerish tackling. On Saturday the Inniskeen game was called off. Big thanks to Martin McCague who sponsored the fruity refreshments at Saturday morning’s training (they were much needed). Training continues as usual. Great attendance so far, keep it up. U10 Blitz Well done to all those who travelled to Cloghan early last Saturday morning for the u10 blitz. The boys did themselves proud and had an enjoyable morning. Thanks to all who helped out on the day. Juvenile Gear A final reminder to all those wising to purchase juvenile jersies, togs or socks to place their order with Colm Gormley as soon as possible as the order is going in on Monday. Development Meeting There will be a development meeting in the clubrooms tonight, Thursday, at 9pm.
