Clontibret Club Notes
Senior Championship The senior championship semi-final takes place this Saturday in Aughnamullen at 5pm, against Carrick. This is part of a double header as the other semi-final between ‘Blayney and Latton will start at 3.30pm. Good luck to all involved. O’Duffy Cup Clontibret 3-14, Carrick 0-09. This turned out to be a rather convincing win, although it didn’t start that way as it took our boys a while to get going. There were only a number of points between the teams at the break, but Clontibret really took off in the second half and goals from Marius McGarrell, Ronan Murphy and Christopher Fanning sealed victory. The final against ‘Blayney has yet to be fixed. Minor League Clontibret 0-13, Latton 1-11. Our minors were unlucky to be edged out by Latton by a single point in the minor league semi-final on Tuesday week ago. This ends their competitive football for the year. Well done lads on a great year’s effort, and thanks to the management team of Gregory Leonard and Brian McSkane who put in tremendous work and commitment throughout the campaign. U13 League Clontibret 2-08, Killanny 3-09. Our u13 team came out the wrong side of a four point defeat at the hands of Killanny last Friday. We gave away early scores in the first half and never really recovered from that, despite a much improved performance in the second half. This Saturday we take on Eire Og at home at 11.30am. Please note change of time due to the senior championship semi-final.
