Clontibret Club Notes
Crawley Cup Final Clontibret 0-11, Emyvale 0-06. We captured our second senior trophy of the year on Saturday last when our C team defeated Emyvale by 5 points in the Crawley Cup final. This was a more entertaining game than the score-line suggests, with some excellent scores and great passages of play. We got off to a flying start with Kevin Gormley and Paul Winters causing the Emyvale defence all sorts of bother, and raced into a four point lead, eventually going in at the break leading by six. However it was not to be all our own way in the second half with Emyvale coming back strongly. We managed to hold out for victory, thanks to a fine point from Thomas Greenan, a couple of frees from captain Marius McGarrell and excellent defending at the back where Christopher Fanning, Kevin Ward and Fergal McGuigan were outstanding. Marius was presented with the Crawley Cup from Sean McKenna, who acknowledged the team’s success, having won this competition for the past three years in a row. Thanks to Padraig McGuigan for his help and commitment to this team, along with Colm Gormley and Frank McManus. Senior League Clontibret 0-06, Doohamlet 1-12. This was a very disappointing performance and result on Sunday last in Drumhowan. We played against a strong breeze in the first half, and despite conceding an early goal, we dealt with the conditions quite well in the opening quarter. However Doohamlet pulled away in the final quarter of the opening half with some great points and we never really recovered from that. We play ‘Blayney in the final league game of the year, the outcome of which will decide whether or not we qualify for the semi-final. O'Duffy Cup Final Replay with Blayney fixed for Cremartin on Sunday, November 2nd at 1.30pm. U13 League We play neighbours Cremartin in the u13 semi-final on Saturday at 11.30am in Clontibret. Please come out and support the boys in which will be a tough contest. Gaelic 4 Mothers Train together, keep fit, have a laugh, enjoy football.
