Night at the Dogs Benefit l
All roads led to the Dundalk
Stadium for the Clontibret O’Neill’s GAA Night at the Dogs Benefit
last Saturday night. After weeks of preparation and hard work, a successful
and enjoyable night was had by the large attendance of the Clontibret
faithful, even though a few of the punters left most of their wallet
contents behind them!! But some lucky punter was able to get home safely
from the event with the aid of the star prize on the night – a donkey!!
The night itself would not
have taken place without the help and support from the local community
and all the local businesses, especially the main sponsors Aidan Woods
Fuel and McQuaid Quarries and the following race sponsors Thomas McGuigan
Furniture, McGuigan Builders, Braeside Stores, Cooltrim Oil, CrowleysDFK,
The Squealing Pig, James Cassidy, Lectros, Brendan Murphy, Greenan Stairs,
Shane Magennis Carpentry, Gormley PVC, Cathal and Jeff Carragher, Westenera
Arms Hotel, Monaghan Electric, E.C. Construction, Brennan Carpets, Shamrock
Bar.
The sponsorship was complimented
with additional donations from many more businesses throughout the community
and beyond. The many tickets sellers have to be thanked that annoyed
anyone and everyone for the last six weeks in making sure that as many
tickets were sold as possible. A raffle was held on the night with plenty
of good prizes on offer raging from the star prize of a donkey, donated
by Sean Mone, to the many signed jerseys and vouchers. The winner of
the €1,000 draw was Paul Mulhiell, from Offaly, the winning ticket
being sold by Niall Magennis.
With all this good work being
done, this allowed the club to raise much needed funds. A great achievement
by everyone involved and connected to the club. Once again the club
would like to thank anyone who contributed to this successful event
and it showed what a great community spirit that is in us all.
